Ancestral Elevation
August 12th - September 16th
Wednesday evenings 6-7:30pm @The Ninth House
A group class for beginners on ancestral elevation.
Ancestral elevation is a spiritual practice used to address and repair ancestral pain, patterns, and trauma from a lineage. This practice benefits you as much as it benefits your ancestors. When we perform an elevation ceremony, we commune with our ancestors who have been hurt, lost, or stuck and offer assistance, grace, and ease while witnessing their expansion. In this 6-week intensive, you will learn how to do this with intention, tenderness, and support while working through a decolonial lens. You will have the support of your spirit team, classmates, and two well-resourced mentors.
*Important timing note: During the elevation ceremony (which will span the length of the 4th week), there will be a daily time and energy commitment that you’ll offer your ancestors. Feel free to plan around this as needed.
Meet Your Mentors:
Shosh (they/them) is a trans/queer ancestor medium, Reiki practitioner, spiritual mentor, and artist. They come from multiple spiritual lineages rooted deeply in land veneration, energetic healing, and divination. Shosh specializes in delivering guidance straight from your spirit team to help bring you clarity along your journey and cultivate trust in yourself. They have helped hundreds of people open themselves up to the calls of their ancestors, step into their gifts, remember past lives, and heal through energetic blockages. Shosh offers their services at the Ninth House, in their downtown Tucson studio, and remotely via Zoom.

Jes (she/they) is an ancestral medium, somatic practitioner, author, and cosmic librarian. Jes deeply resonates with folk practices, earth-based magic, the body as part of the spiritual world, and discovering ancestral ways of healing + integrating them into daily life. In addition to her Celtic, Nordic, Baltic, and Slavic ancestors, Jes also cherishes their queer and trans ancestors, community medicine ancestors, plantcestors, and, of course, her raucous group of Chain Smoking Grannies.

Additional notes about the class:
There is an expectation that participants will do their best to attend all 6 classes.
This is an intensive class series, and there is an expectation for participants to make time to practice what we learn outside of class time. This will be especially important for week 4 of the curriculum, where participants will be performing the ancestor elevation ritual at home, dedicating 30 minutes of time each day that week.
Please come to class nourished (eat a snack, drink water, come with intention).
Come with an open mind and willingness to trust yourself! We’ll be exploring many avenues of spirit work that you may or may not have heard of. You will also show up with your own wisdom to share.
Bring a notebook and pen for note taking during the class!
This class will take place at The Ninth House, 2563 E Fort Lowell Rd, Tucson, AZ. There is parking on site
FAQ:
Many people do not know from whom they descended. Part of the beauty of ancestral elevation is the ability to build that connection and learn about your ancestors as you go. You don’t need names to begin connecting. This practice can also be approached by identifying a pattern, wound, or trauma that you wish to heal in your lineage and moving from there.
“What if I don’t know my ancestors?”
“My ancestors were bad people and I have a hard time connecting with them. Why would I even want to connect with them?”
We all have ancestors in our lineage who have done harmful things. A big part of this work is confronting how those patterns (whether they are of the victim or perpetrator) continue to show up in you and your lineage. However, when most people ask this question they are referencing oppressive ancestors in their lineage. Ancestor work is decolonization work. This is a wonderful opportunity to address how colonialism has affected you and your relationship to your ancestors. Through this work you can release these patterns from your lineage and take action towards reparation.
